Lip Blush

Your own lips, only better rested

Lip blush is a soft wash of pigment worked gently through the lips to restore colour, even out tone and give the impression of a fuller shape. No liner. No obvious tint. Just your own lips, looking like they do on a good day, every day.

The point is not to make your lips look made up. It is to make them look like themselves, only better rested.

The result

What it does

Lip blush can improve symmetry, define the lip border, restore colour that has faded over time, and create the illusion of a fuller, fresher mouth.

It is customisable. At one end that means a barely there tint that just puts the colour back. At the other it means a more defined, polished finish. Where you sit on that range is your decision, made at the consultation.

Suitability

Who this is for

  • You want to enhance your natural lip colour
  • Your lips have lost colour or definition over time
  • You have uneven pigmentation or tone across the lips
  • You want a low maintenance everyday colour
  • You would like subtle correction of asymmetry
  • You have had lip filler and want to build on the result
  • You want to look fresher without looking different

If your lips are naturally cool toned or darker, read the Lip Neutralisation page first. Colour applied over a darker base does not land the way you would expect, and neutralisation is usually the sensible first step.

Your appointment

What happens on the day

  • Consultation and colour. We talk through the colour you want, the healed result you are picturing, and what will work with your natural lip tone and skin tone. I then mix a bespoke pigment blend for you.
  • Shape and design. I assess the lip shape and refine it where it makes sense. You approve both the shape and the colour before anything starts.
  • Treatment. Pigment is implanted gently and evenly with a digital machine. Numbing products are used throughout.
  • Aftercare. You leave with a recommended aftercare product and written instructions, also on the Care page.

Healing

Immediately afterwards your lips will look brighter and more intense than the healed result, and some swelling in the first day or two is normal.

As they heal the colour softens and lightens considerably. What emerges over the following weeks is much more natural than what you walk out with. Expect dryness and flaking along the way.

Perfecting session

Included, usually four to six weeks later, once healing is complete and the colour can be judged properly.

Longevity

Typically two to three years, depending on lifestyle, skin type, sun exposure and how your skin holds pigment.

Preparation

Before your appointment

Full instructions are on the Care page. The short version:

  • Keep your lips well hydrated in the weeks beforehand. This makes a real difference to the result
  • Gently exfoliate any dry skin a few days before
  • No alcohol or caffeine for 24 hours beforehand
  • No aspirin or ibuprofen for 24 to 72 hours beforehand, unless prescribed
  • If you get cold sores, speak to your GP or pharmacist about antiviral medication beforehand, as treatment can trigger an outbreak
  • Avoid sunburn to the lips
  • Arrive with healthy, unbroken skin on and around the lips
“Bea instantly made me feel at ease in the consultation and I'm so pleased with my lip blush treatment. I have very pale lips so I was worried they'd not look natural but she managed to choose a perfect shade for me.”
